Important Upcoming Dates!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The end of the year is fast approaching. Here is a run-down on what is coming up to help you and your child make it through to June 5th in style.
Student Led Conferences are currently taking place for all 6th graders during the weeks of April 22 and April 29. If you have not received the note from your child’s advisor, please contact him or her to set up your conference. All students must attend a conference.
The 3rd and final round of Hawaii State Assessments (HSA) assessments will take place between May 6 and May 16. Any student who has not passed an HSA will have their final chance to do so during that time period, other students will have an opportunity to reach their highest score. 6th grade students test in reading and math.
Student Exhibition will take place during the week of May 20th. Exhibitions are mandatory and an important event for all students. It is a chance for them to practice their public speaking skills, teaching skills, and show you what they have been working on all semester. Please adjust your schedules so both you and your child are able to attend his or her assigned Exhibition Night. Students will receive up to 10 points for their presentation and participation.
May 21 – 6th grade Exhibition,5 pm to 6:30 pm
May 24th - Come help the Fourth Friday KCS/PTO Booth on May 31st anytime from 5-9pm (see post below!) 6th grade will be selling their seedlings.
The 8th grade celebration will take place on May 31st. A banquet will be held for 8th graders and their immediate family members at 6 pm in the high school auditorium. A school dance for all 6th – 8th graders will follow the banquet from 7:30 pm to 9 pm. Please be sure to pick your child up promptly at 9 pm.
The grade books close on May 31st. Students must have all of their work turned in by 5 pm. No exceptions. Please remember students are expected to achieve a 70% or better in all of their classes to be eligible for promotion to the next grade level.
The last day of school is June 5th Attendance is required for all students through this date.
June 5- Half Day for Students
The 2013-2014 school year begins on July 29th for all Kihei Charter brick and mortar students.

4th Friday Help-May 24th in Kihei
The 6th grade will be manning the Kihei Charter School table in the Keiki Zone at 4th Friday in Kihei on May 24th. We are looking for students and parents who can volunteer their time or make donations of handmade items to sell. All monies raised will go directly to purchasing 6th grade supplies and materials. Please come on down anytime between 5pm and 9pm and see Mrs. Federoff to help out. Mahalo for your kokua.
